The Pocono Alpine Ski Educational Foundation, Inc. (PASEF) is a tax-deductible, non-profit foundation whose main objective is the support and development of student athletes through the sport of ski racing. As a member club of the United States Ski and Snowboard Association, our purpose is to offer junior athletes a developmental opportunity to reach their desired goals, which may hopefully include becoming members of the elite United States Ski Team.
The team coordinates its selection and training of racers with Camelback Ski Resort's mountain racing program so that developmental racers can successfully graduate to the travelling competition team.
PASEF has established its training base at Camelback Ski Resort, in Tannersville, Pennsylvania. The mountain provides the team with a site and venue to run training and major ski racing events. Camelback's "Cliffhanger" trail has been approved by the regional, national, and international alpine ski racing organizations, allowing Camelback to officially host regional, national, and international events.
Race Program Overview
There are four racing options for Camelback skiers - the Development Team, the Race Team, the Master's Program and NASTAR Racing. The group a skier belongs to is determined by their age, skill and level of interest.
Most junior racers initially join Camelback's Development Team where they gain the skills necessary to eventually compete at the USSA level. The Development Team does gate training each weekend from January through early March and also practices on NASTAR.
Once racers are proficient, they are moved to the Race Team. Here they train more intensly and compete at regional (PARA) and National (USSA) levels.
The age groups for the Race Team are as follows:
